KARNES CITY – The 20th annual Karnes County Youth Show is set for a three-day run beginning Thursday at the show barn off U.S. Highway 181.<\/p>\n
More than 200 hogs are entered in this year’s show, along with 52 halter steers, 31 heifers, and 14 commercial steers.<\/p>\n
The show will also feature 125 goats, 29 lambs and 19 pens of broilers. In the homemaking division there are 361 food entries, 239 handicraft entries and 25 clothing entries.<\/p>\n
Livestock weigh-in begins at noon Thursday with the broiler show slated for 4 p.m. and the goat show at 5 p.m.<\/p>\n
Friday begins with the commercial steer judging at 8 a.m. followed by the homemaking judging at 9:30 a.m. and the lamb show at 10 a.m. At noon the breeding cattle show begins followed by the halter steer show. Commercial steer awards will be handed out at 3:45 p.m., and the hog show is set for 4 p.m.<\/p>\n
Items entered in the homemaking division are available for public viewing from 3-9 p.m. Friday.<\/p>\n
Livestock judging starts the day at 9 a.m. Saturday. Sale of handicraft and non-champion food items runs from 9 a.m. until noon. Homemaking awards will be presented at 3:30 p.m. The Friends of the Karnes County Youth Show presentation, honoring a county resident who has helped the show improve, will be made prior to the 5 p.m. auction.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
