Activities to mark ASEAN anniversary held in Venezuela

Buenos Aires (VNA) – A gathering to introduce culinary art of member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has taken place in Venezuela as part of activities to mark the 40 th founding anniversary of the grouping.
Speaking at the function, Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Tran Thanh Huan affirmed that ASEAN, as a socio-economic regional grouping, has manifested its increasingly important role in the region.
Malaysian Ambassador Ramlan Kimin said ASEAN was doing its utmost for the target of eliminating tariffs by 2015 among its member countries and creating a single market by 2020.
Meanwhile, Venezuelan Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Villegas spoke highly of the Southeast Asian regional grouping and confirmed his country’s determination to boost friendly relations with fraternal countries in Asia.
On the occasion, an exhibition of handicraft and fine arts products made by ASEAN member countries is open to the public in Venezuela’s capital of Caracas.
