Tourism and handicraft fair in Yazd

PRESS TV, Iran

Iran’s central city of Yazd has opened its first tourism and handicraft exhibition as part of an ongoing effort to introduce Iranian culture to visitors.

A wide range of handicrafts will be on display, including a variety of hand-woven rugs, pottery and traditional clothes.

Yazd’s famous tourist attractions and ancient historical sites will also be highlighted in promotional posters and brochures, IRNA has reported.

Yazd is one of Iran’s oldest cities and has a 3,000 year-long history which dates back to the time of the Median Empire.

More than 30 kinds of handicrafts are native to the region and over 6,500 historic monuments and antiques have been identified in the city so far.

The exhibition opened today and will run for one week.
