Imphal, September 25: The endeavour of the Ukhrul District Handloom and Handicraft Co-Operative Federation (UDHAHCOF) is a welcoming development when it comes to economic development vis-a-vis employment generation in the district.

The UDHAHCOF which had just celebrated its first Raising Day last month is doing well comparatively and the federation is in excellent service as of now.

The UDHAHCOF in its service, has been encouraging weavers in the Ukhrul district ever since its formation.

In its first Raising Day which was held on August 11 in Ukhrul HQ, the federation invited weavers and social organisation leaders and government officials to the programme and carried out healthy interaction on the profession.

Directorate of Commerce and Industries, government of Manipur attended the function as chief guest while Tangkhul Naga Long president Stephen Angkang was the function president on that Raising Day of the UDHAHCOF.

Altogether some 89 societies attended the Raising Day, according to the UDHAHCOF.

The chief guest in his speech explained the newly introduced handloom schemes in detail.

M.Rajen Singh also encouraged the weavers of the Ukhrul district to work very hard so as to harvest more handloom production and the productivity with quality.The chief guest then congratulated the members of the UDHAHCOF.

Tangkhul Naga Long president Stephen Angkang and Silla Konghay encouraged the weavers to work hard and extend full co-operation with the federation.

They also congratulated the members of the federation.

Angkang and Konghay stated that the development of the handloom industries would certainly improve the socio-economic life of the people in the district.

Dr.YL Mingthing, Director (TTA) delivered the vote of thanks speech while pastor of Viewland Baptist Church and pastor of TASHAR Baptist Church A.S.Shimray performed the blessing prayer at the end of the celebration.
