JAKARTA, Feb 14 (Bernama) — Small and Medium sized traders in Malaysia importing handicraft products from Indonesia will now have the opportunity of cutting down their cost by 30 percent if they use the facility being offered by the Jakarta Business Leisure Club (JBLC).
The founder of the idea, Malaysian Jamal Mohamad Amin said the member based club with reasonable fees involved, provided a one-stop centre for traders from Malaysia to find, evaluate quality and order the handicraft products directly from the small and medium producers of Indonesia for their Malaysian market.
“Malaysians on the other hand will be able to exhibit and offer their products directly to the traders in Indonesia through JBLC which has its exhibition centre at the Salemba Residence here,” he told reporters after the official launch of JBLC here on Friday.
JBLC was launched by the deputy president of Dewan Perniagaan Melayu Malaysia (DPMM) Datuk Mohamad Alayuddin Hassan. Also present was the Mayor of Bandar Tasikmalaya in Jawa Barat, Syarif Hidayat, as well as members of JBLC Malaysia and Indonesia.
Jamal said JBLC will be able to get the 30 percent cost savings through ensuring that the prices of products offered through its exhibition centre are lower than the prices in Tanah Abang, a popular wholesale centre here. Savings will be also through the reduction in the cost of delivery to Malaysia via ship and assistance with import and export activities.
“Through JBLC, Malaysian traders also do not have to spend money travelling around places in Indonesia to seach for products as all these products can be found here,” he said.
Jamal said through JBLC, Malaysians will be also assured of genuine and quality products from Indonesia while all communications and import documents will be in order.
“We have ensured that the producers of the handicraft products on our list are genuine producers,” he said.
Among the products that could be sourced competitively at Tasikmalaya in Jawa Barat here include batik, veils, scarves, leather shoes, slippers, jackets and souvenir products.
