Brunei may showcase handicraft products in Japan

Brunei Darussalam’s handicraft products may soon be showcased to the Japanese market next year under the Development and Export Promotion of Brunei Handicraft Product under Brunei Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (BJEPA).

To gain a better understanding of the desired products to be showcased, Mr Yoshio NAMULA, one of the experts and president of textile company NEED’K Co Ltd, yesterday visited the Bajoo Fashion House.

It is one of the Development and Export Promotion of Brunei Handicraft Product under the BJEPA’s project that is aimed at developing the handicraft industry.

A team comprising of representatives from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI, Japan), Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO, Japan), JETRO Singapore Office, Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam and Brunei- Japan Friendship Association met at the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources (MIPR) on June 25, to discuss the project’s concept, goals, objectives, strategies, requirement and its future.

During the meeting, Brunei was represented by the MIPR (Promotion and Facilitation Services Division; Tourism Department) and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
