The scouts were treated to a lesson in how to make a Wooly Worm fly by Pastor George on Monday evening at the Elementary School as part of their handicraft badge. The flies had all been tried and tested on local lakes in the area.
The Scouts were shown the many different example of fishing flies and the Pastor let the Scouts use his equipment, which can cost as little as $50.00, to have a go themselves. The Scouts were shown how to fly tie one of the hundred different flies and the basics techniques needed for fly fishing. The Scouts were very thankful to Pastor George for not only showing them this very rewarding skill but for also letting them choose a fly each from his collection.
The Scouts are looking forward to making more flies which they find to be very relaxing and to testing their handiwork at the earliest opportunity.
A follow up field trip is being organized for the Scouts to see Pastor Georges fly fishing library and the many examples that he has in his collection.
