Jammu festival to begin in April

Jammu (PTI): The fortnight-long Jammu festival is all set to woo the tourists with a colourful package of traditional and cultural events to be unfolded from April one, a press release said here on Tuesday.
The festival would be an improvement over the past years with the main attraction being a car rally passing through the major tourist destinations, the release said.
The organisers were hopeful of roping in playback singer Sonu Nigam, it said.
Rural sports competitions and cultural events would be organised at the district headquarters, it said.
A sound and light show is also proposed to be held at Parade Ground, while illumination would deck the Mubarak Mandi Palace Complex and heritage buildings.
A handicraft and handloom exhibition, nukkad shows, hot air balloon and helicopter joyrides and city walk are other attractions of the festival, the release said.
A high-level meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad yesterday, discussed the events to be organised at the provincial and district headquarters of Jammu during the festival.
The Chief minister said the government had already passed law against use of polythene and would strictly implement it during the festival.
