Iran to set up exhibits in 4 countries

Iran has scheduled to hold permanent handicraft exhibitions in four countries in a bid to promote Iranian culture and tourism in the world.

Iran is planning to hold permanent handicraft exhibitions in Canada, Germany, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates.

The Iranian exhibitions will be showcasing the country’s artworks, books and traditional music in three continents (more…)

Srinagar, Jan 28: Continuing with its programme of refurbishing the outlets of the Handicrafts Corporation, minister of state for corporations and chairman Handicrafts (S&E) Corporation Abdul Rashid Dar Monday inaugurated a renovated retail outlet of the Kashmir Government Arts Emporium at Lal Chowk here.
The swanky showroom, which is fully air-conditioned and computerized, is the first of its kind the corporation has set up in the Valley. (more…)

AS part of the northern development, former Minister for Women, Adi Laufitu Malani has started consultation with the Fiji American Chamber of Commerce over possibilities of exportation of handicraft work to the US from women in the north.

Adi Laufitu, who started the project to help better living standard of women in terms of small revenue generating businesses, said handicraft items to be exported would be made out of kuta, voivoi and wame. (more…)

While one third of revenue from Viet Nam’s fine arts and handicraft exports are from markets in Japan, there is great potential to increase sales to Japan even further, said Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Le Danh Vinh.

Fine arts and handicrafts were one of the 10 leading potential export items for Viet Nam, with these exports heading to 136 countries and territories and a growth rate of over 20 per cent a year, said Vinh. (more…)

The Exhibition ground to host the first ever International Handicraft Forum, (better known by its French abbreviation-SIARC), situated at the esplanade of the National Museum, was a point of attraction yesterday.

During a one-hour press conference during which the Minister of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicraft, Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa, briefed pressmen on the state of preparation. The SMEs boss, accompanied by his counterpart from the Central African Republic and other dignitaries, then moved straight to the field to assess the work going on, four days ahead of the event. Srinagar, Jan 21: With machine-made embroidery replacing the handmade skill, Kashmiri handicraft artisans are witnessing decline of their trade. Where customers would once swarm, the Kashmiri embroidery shops are nowadays rarely being visited by them.
“We are in a slump. No doubt we make our too ends meet by our work, yet there are a lot of requirements that go unfulfilled because of the depression in our trade,” Malik Mushtaq, proprietor Malik Embroiders at Aabi Guzzar Bund here said, adding that the huge readymade materials that are funneling into the markets have gobbled down the market of Kashmiri handicraft. VENDORS at yesterday’s ROC market in Suva said they found it hard making a sale.

Handicraft seller, Waisea Tubu said sales were not good.

“This year and last year, we hardly sell anything,” Mr Tubu said.

“When the ROC market started five years ago, we used to sell nearly everything that we bring,” he said. (more…)

The Kuchina Handicraft and Art Exhibition showcase Kiriyo Kuchina’s art and handicraft pieces that includes items such as bags, purses and fabric. Born in Osaka, Japan in 1942, Kiriyo Kuchina is recognised in producing the original Kiriyo-Ori, and her works of arts are created based on a traditional Japanese weaving form called Saganishiki.
