CS for comprehensive plan of self-employment

Srinagar, Aug 13: To discuss modalities for exploring viable employment opportunities for the educated youth of the state, a high level meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary C Phunsog here today.
CS asked all the departments to submit the approach paper by the end of this month to the Directorate of Employment regarding employment opportunities in their respective departments, an official statement said.
He underscored the need for formulating a comprehensive plan of self-employment so that more and more unemployed educated youth would be provided employment
He laid stress to harness employment capacities of agriculture, horticulture, handicraft, industries and IT sector.
Phunsog ordered constitution of a committee under the chairmanship of Financial Commissioner Agriculture to identify baran and uncultivated land in the state to be brought under agriculture and horticulture mission to create employment opportunities. He s aid the committee in collaboration with Revenue, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forest and other departments shall identify such land and prepare a project to use it for generating employment opportunities. He said that agriculture and horticulture sectors in the state promise huge job avenues adding that the potential of these sectors awaits harnessing for optimum utilization and job creation.
Director Economics and Statistical was directed to conduct a survey to find out the total number of unemployed youth in the stat e.
The meeting appreciated the role of KVIB in providing self-employment loan under various schemes and also making aware youth about different self-employment schemes.
