THE embassies of Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Brunei have joined hands to hold an ‘Asean Bazaar’ tomorrow from 3-9pm at the Philippines International School of Qatar.

The initiative is being spearheaded by Malaysia’s Ambassador to Qatar, Datuk Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari, as Malaysia is currently chairing the 10-nation bloc of Southeast Asian nations.

“Entry fee is only QR1 as our objective is to showcase the cultures of the five Asean countries that are represented here in Doha. We want as many people as possible to come, especially from countries other than Asean members,” he told Gulf Times.

Among the attractions are cultural and musical performances, handicraft stalls, magic shows courtesy of Hyatt Plaza’s Jungle Zone and free blood test, courtesy Apollo Clinic.

Aside from a food fair to be put up by the expatriate community of Asean countries living here, there will also be a lucky draw offering return air tickets to Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Jakarta and Manila and various dining vouchers.

Doha Bank is the prestige partner of the event.
