A Fairview man has turned his hobby into a prize-winning achievement. James Greer of Fairview earned the top prize in the stained glass category at the recent Williamson County Fair, taking home a blue ribbon for his stained glass carousel.He also won the title of Best of Show in the handicraft division at the fair, an impressive feat considering there were more than 20 other entries in this division. To mark 35 long years of friendship between the two nations, a handicraft exhibition is going on at the Russian Centre of Science and Cultural, Dhaka.

Bandar Seri Begawan - Biscuits, cakes, carpets, clothes, shoes and jewellery are but a few Raya items that will be up for sale at an exhibition scheduled to open at the Atrium Hall, The Mall in Gadong today.Over 45 booths have been set up for the event - organised by Ridah Handicraft - which has so far attracted dozens of local SME participants.

The exhibition is scheduled to run until October 6, to allow members of the public a chance to shop for their Raya necessities. (more…)

Imphal, September 25: The endeavour of the Ukhrul District Handloom and Handicraft Co-Operative Federation (UDHAHCOF) is a welcoming development when it comes to economic development vis-a-vis employment generation in the district.

The UDHAHCOF which had just celebrated its first Raising Day last month is doing well comparatively and the federation is in excellent service as of now. (more…)

BURKINA Faso plans to explore the possibility of using
handicraft to promote tourism and development during the forthcoming International Conference of Craft and Art (SIAO) taking place in Ouagadougou in October.

That country’s minister of culture, arts and tourism, Mrs. Aline Koala, said that an international symposium titled “Handicraft and Tourism as factor for development”, would be one of the major highlights of this year’s edition of SIAO. (more…)

One of the countries to be visited will be Morocco. Yesterday the ambassador of the African Arab country to Brazil, Farida Jaïdi, visited the organization’s offices in São Paulo. To form trade relation between Thailand, representatives from 11 One Tambon One Product (OTOP) companies of Narathiwat province, south Thailand organized a meeting led by Vice Governor of Narithiwat, Pisat Thronglert.

Narathiwat province is specialized in products such as handicraft, textile, painting, food and batiks.

Thailand Government had formed OTOP to make optimum use of local resources as well as generating income and employment for local people.
